    Notes
    • Louis came to the United States at the age of 3 (?) with his older brother Ludwig, his younger brother Alfred, and his mother Hulda in 1911. The ship's manifest is available at www.ellisisland.org.

Some discrepant information: HF spoke w/MF in 1985 and noted from that conversation that Louis (Matthew's grandfather) was born in Prussia in 1899 and immigrated to America with his family in 1900. That would have been prior to Gottleib's marriage to Hulda

Louis' marriage to Susan (at the age of 30) was his second; he was noted as divorced in marriage records of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Jersey City NJ. He resided at 104 Mercer Street, Jersy City NJ at the time of his second marriage. Alfred Fausak was a witness at the marriage.

Information from MF, Highland Village, TX in 1985 is that both Louis and Susan died in an automobile accident (collision with train in rural Pennsylvania) that also killed Mrs. Maty Barankovitz. They were traveking on a rural road to visit Louis' son-in-law.

First name shown on birth certificate is Ludwig; RAF has birth certificate (1996).

Became citizen of U.S. when father was naturalized.

"This happened in Przasnysz on the 13/16 of December 1906 at 5 in the evening. Gottlieb Fausak, a laborer from Janowko, 25 years old, appeared and in the presence of witnesses Efraim Hein, 55 years old, and Ludwig Fausak, 59 years old, both farmers from Janowko, presented to us a child of the male sex, stating that the child was born in Janowko on the 6/19 of September of this year at 8 hours in the evening from his lawful wife Hulda Antonina born Leichnitz, 26 years old. To their child at Holy Baptism , performed on this day, was given the name Ludwig. The godparents were the first witness and Ottilie Leichnitz. This document, late because of the father's family circumstances, was read to all illiterate witnesses and signed only by us. Pastor Oscar Ernst."
