    • Richard recalls driving his parents Adolf and Amalie to NJ around Thanksgiving of 1949 for the wedding of Emma Rosa Fausak and John Hazel.

      He also recalls that in May 1929, when he was about 3 1/2 years old, most of the family farm burned down (everything but the house and the smokehouse). Two horses burned, as did both a Model T and a Hudson car. The farm was insured, so was
      rebuilt with insurance proceeds.
