    Notes
    • Edward (spelled Eduard) entered the United States in 1902 at the age of 16; he traveled with Gottlieb Fausak (b. 1881) and Karl Fausak (b 1866). They sailed on the SS Assyria from Hamburg on 7 Mar 1902 and arrived in New York on 22 Mar 1902; their entry is recorded on the manifest available under the misspelled name Tausak at www.ellisisland.org. They were coming to join their brother Julian, who entered the US the preceding year and whose address was 160 2nd Street (assumed to be New York). They came with $66 between them and listed their residence as Jonowsk, Poland.

According to the 1910 census records, where his name is spelled Frausak, he immigrated in 1901. Last name also spelled Fausack in marriage records of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Jersey City NJ; birthplace reported in those records as Ebselen, Russia Poland.

He was a witness at marriage of half-brother Gottlieb in 1904 at St. Matthews Church.

His marriage is recorded in Book IV of St. Matthew's records, but the entry was undated. According to that source, Edward was married at the age of 21 in about 1906, he lived at 100 Warren St., Jersey City NJ, and was shown as a laborer. Carl Fausack (sic), Minnie Elmer, and C. B. Rablow (?) were witnesses.

He could read and write according to 1910 census records. Lived at that time at 473 Henderson St., Jersey City NJ.

Owned and operated two commercial bakeries employing >40 people at their height (according to son Edward Louis Fausak Sr. in 1997). He had sold the bakeries by 1945 and retired to Highstown NJ.

Son Edward says that his father's birthdate was 13 August 1886, that he came to America in 1902, and that his birth place was Allenstein, Prussia (now Olyzten, Poland).

Edward Louis Fausak reported in 1997 that his father was diabetic, but was not so diagnosed until after he had lost sight in one eye.

Edward's U. S. passport application in 1920 indicates that he had returned to Poland in July and August 1907.

Edward returned to New York on 6 October 1920 from a European trip, arriving aboard the SS Noordam sailing from Rotterdam (departure on 25 September). He was 33 years old at the time, and his address was 242 Second Street, Jersey City NJ. The manifest shows also that he was naturalized in the City Court of Jersey City NJ in April 1910.

According to son Edward, Edward and Rose and their daughter Emma visited Germany again in 1938.
